Space buns are a classic festival hairstyle, but add back braids and brightly colored streaks and you've just upgraded yours to the next level.

Step 1: Start by middle-parting your hair and sectioning off the top half of each side with clips.

Step 2: Then, you can start adding color. The L'Oreal Paris Hair Color Colorista Makeup is literally makeup for your hair. It's totally temporary (it washes right out with shampoo) and has an uber-vibrant color payoff regardless of your hair's natural hue.

Just dab a dime-sized amount onto sections of hair—in this case, try four different colors, one after another, down the length of a section—rub it into the strands (no gloves required!), and let it air dry or blow dry it if you're in a hurry. Then, give it a quick brush.

There are 13 shades in total, ranging from a totally neon pink to a soft cool blue, so feel free to experiment as much as you want. Here, we used Pink Violet, Lilac, Silver Blue, and Gray.

Step 3: Next, French braid each of your two sections up to the area of clipped hair on either side.

Step 4: Braid the colored bottom section together with the clipped-up top section to fuse them together just an inch or two, and then wrap the hair around into a bun.

Step 5: If you want to be *extra*—it is a festival, after all—add a metallic hair color spray just to the buns. Done!
