The MacBook Air — which normally retails for $999 — is on sale for $750, making it a fantastic buy for college students or really anyone in the market for a new laptop.

This 25% discount applies to all three colors: Silver, Space Gray, and the lux-looking Gold, with an estimated delivery date of July 11 for Amazon Prime members.

Although the MacBook Air M1 isn't Apple's latest MacBook Air laptop, it’s still an excellent buy, especially for this sale price. That’s because it’s powered by an incredibly powerful and reliable processor — which is 98% faster than most laptops.

“More than two years after hitting the shelves, the MacBook Air with the M1 chip still offers a mix of power and battery life that's ahead of any similarly priced PC rival,” said tester and senior technology editor Stefan Vazharov.

Specs for the laptop include 8GB of RAM, a 256GB solid-state drive, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and one 3.5mm headphone jack. The M1 processor is much faster than Intel processors that were featured in past iterations of the MacBook Air, and its battery life is better than any laptop I’ve used in my almost 10 years of reviewing technology.

The MacBook Air packs an incredibly responsive trackpad, a comfortable keyboard, and a vibrant 13-inch display that's perfect for graphic design, writing text, or watching videos. It's quiet and has no issues juggling multiple tabs simultaneously or switching between power-intensive apps like Adobe's Creative Cloud suite.

At its thickest point, the MacBook Air is just 0.63 inches and it weighs 2.8 pounds, so it's easy to travel with. Really, the biggest downfall is that it packs a slightly grainier-than-average 720p webcam and it doesn't have the new MagSafe charging connector, which is featured on the newer M2 model.

If you’re a student or a casual user who needs a solid laptop that’s priced well under $1,000, I can confidently say that this MacBook Air deal is likely the best one to come out of Amazon’s Prime Day sale. Simply put, it’s faster, more compact, and better designed than the competition.
